Hello, I'm Maya Goldman!
I write, edit, & create.
ABOUT
For as long as I can remember, I've loved to read and write. As a 9-year-old, I created a weekly newspaper to distribute to my extended family at our weekly dinners (The Shabbat Digest). It was no surprise to anyone when I decided I wanted to be a journalist. During college, I worked as a news reporter, news editor, and podcast producer at The Michigan Daily, University of Michigan's independent student paper, before becoming editor-in-chief in 2019. In the summers, I interned at Michigan Radio and Bloomberg Environment and fell even more in love with journalism.
I graduated college in May 2020 and spent the fall interning for the Wall Street Journal. I covered the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on education, from breaking news about university administrators testing positive to features on virtual field trips. I also reported on the November 2020 election for WSJ from my home state of Michigan. I'm so grateful for the chance to bring people the information they need during this historic time.
I'm now a Medicare & Medicaid reporter at Inside Health Policy, a news website tracking the latest health care updates for policy professionals and holding the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services accountable.
In my free time, I love to be outside -- I've visited every park in the city of Ann Arbor -- or practice my baking skills. I've also been knitting a scarf for the past three years (it's a work in progress).
